I like how Regular Movie has us both with and against Rigby. You feel bad for him failing to salvage his friendship with Mord and trying to cover up his tracks, even going as far as to undo the whole thing and commiting suicide. But you also are against him and believe he deserved what he got for forging the letter in the first place. Not letting your friend get to college simply because you didn't is extremely selfish. Lesson: you can't avoid the consequences of a lie. If you do they will just come back stronger. Past Mordecai can just go to CU and forgive Past Rigby, Present Mordecai can't and instead ends his friendship with Present Rigby realizing their friendship and life were a lie. Future Mordecai understood Future Rigby, but only after the former killed the latter. Speaking of Present Rigby when Mordecai learn the truth: tries shoving the responsibility and the consequences, only making Mord. angrier when he sees Mord again: apologizes, took accountability and confessed his dear friendship, helping Mord feel humble and forgiving.
